The Somnium is a very special lens. For its ability to draw pictures like a paintbrush, for its ability to create flattering portraits, so artistic they nearly seem magical and of course for its extraordinary, sometimes nearly sprinkling swirly Bokeh.
For us at Meyer Optik the Somnium has even a more special meaning: It was the first art lens, we have ever published since Meyer-Optik-Görlitz was re-born. Since then, a lot of has happened behind the scenes. Original classic lenses, re-buildt in Germany, like the Trioplan or the Primoplan type lenses have built a strong reputation for our new company, as a manufacturer of high quality art lenses. Those lenses have become popular for a good reason, but have somehow overshadowed the lovely Somnium lens.
