Michel d’Oultremont is a Belgian photographer born in 1992 who has been passionate about nature all his life.
A Nature lover
Michel d’Oultremont’s first photograph immortalized a crested tit which he saw in his garden. After years of observing birds and other mammals in his Brabant village, this was a defining moment for the 15-year-old boy. He subsequently explored his native countryside as far as the Ardennes and made his passion a reality and his principal activity from 2016.
A challenge at every moment
Michel d’Oultremont pays particular attention to light and the environment in his photographs. To succeed in encapsulating the osmosis of a wild animal with beautiful natural light is still the main challenge for this young Belgian photographer today. It is this quest which guides and inspires him to produce a portfolio which is full of poetry.
A recognized eye for the natural world
This nature photographer has already enjoyed a remarkable career path: in 2014, he received the Fritz Polking Jr Award and Wildlife Photographer of the Year where he distinguished himself in the category «Rising Star Award.» Until now, he is the only photographer who has won both these international awards.
He created an 11-minute short film called “The Wait“. The film shows how the photographer is getting ready for the photoshoot, waiting for a week in the hope of a great shot.
